AI SDR24 MCP tools for outbound
Build your AI sales agent on Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor
An AI sales agent, or AI SDR, is software that does a sales development rep's outbound work: it researches prospects, writes the emails, sends the sequence and sorts the replies. Build one on the AI assistant you already pay for. The model is the brain; Outreach2day is the hands, with 24 MCP tools for domains, mailboxes, DNS, warmup, campaigns, sending, stats and replies. Leads come from your own source.
- $2.50 per mailbox a month, from 12
- Domains and mailboxes in your name
- Month to month, cancel any time
- You approve every order and launch

- start_warmup · 12 mailboxes warming, ready on day 14
- upsert_campaign_step · 3 steps saved as a draft, 2 and 4 days apart

Definition
What is an AI sales agent?
An AI sales agent is software that runs part of the sales job on its own: it finds or receives prospects, researches them, writes personalized outreach, sends it on a schedule, follows up and sorts the replies, handing interested people to a human. An AI SDR is the same idea scoped to a sales development rep's work: outbound prospecting up to a booked meeting.
Two ways to get one: buy a packaged AI SDR with its own data and sending, or build one from the AI assistant you already use and an MCP server that owns the sending. This page is the second way, with a dated comparison against the first.
What an AI SDR does
- Research each prospect from the data you give it: website, role, company news, CSV columns
- Write a personalized first email and the follow-ups
- Send on a schedule from warmed mailboxes, within daily limits
- Stop the sequence when someone replies
- Sort replies by intent and flag the ones that want a meeting
- Report sent, replies and bounces, and pause a campaign when bounces climb
What stays with people
- Run discovery calls, demos or pricing talks
- Close deals or manage the account after the meeting
- Fix a weak offer or a list of the wrong people
- Keep its domains out of spam without warmup and volume limits
AI SDR, AI BDR, AI sales agent, AI sales assistant
| Term | What it means | Who acts |
|---|---|---|
| AI SDR | Outbound prospecting up to a booked meeting: research, first touch, follow-ups, reply sorting | Autonomous or human-in-the-loop |
| AI BDR | The same job under another title; some teams use BDR for outbound and SDR for inbound leads | Autonomous or human-in-the-loop |
| AI sales agent | The wider term: any agent that acts in the sales process, from prospecting to follow-up after a call | Takes actions through tools |
| AI sales assistant | Drafts, summarizes and suggests; a rep reads and sends | Assistive: a human acts |

Setup
Connect your AI client
Add https://public.outreach2day.com/mcp to your AI client and sign in with your Outreach2day account when it asks. Then ask: "Check my Outreach2day account status". An API key is only for CI and headless setups.
Setup steps
claude.ai, Claude Desktop and mobile
- In claude.ai or Claude Desktop, open Customize, Connectors, click + and choose Add custom connector
- Paste the server URL, https://public.outreach2day.com/mcp, and click Connect
- The first time the client connects, it opens an Outreach2day sign-in page in your browser. Sign in, turn on Prepare orders so the assistant can quote orders and create Stripe checkout links, and allow access
- The connector then works in claude.ai, Claude Desktop and the mobile apps. Remote servers go in as connectors; claude_desktop_config.json is for local servers
Claude Code
- Add the server with the command below (user scope: every project)
- In Claude Code, run /mcp, pick outreach2day and choose Authenticate. Or run claude mcp login outreach2day
- The first time the client connects, it opens an Outreach2day sign-in page in your browser. Sign in, turn on Prepare orders so the assistant can quote orders and create Stripe checkout links, and allow access
- No browser (CI, a headless box)? Use an API key instead: put it in $OUTREACH2DAY_API_KEY and add --header 'Authorization: Bearer ${OUTREACH2DAY_API_KEY}' to the command (single quotes: Claude Code reads the variable when it connects)
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user outreach2day https://public.outreach2day.com/mcp# then, in Claude Code: /mcp, outreach2day, AuthenticateChatGPT (developer mode)
- Settings, Security and login: turn on Developer mode
- Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, click +, name the app Outreach2day, enter the server URL under Connection and create it
- In a new chat, add Outreach2day from the tools menu. ChatGPT opens the Outreach2day sign-in page on the first tool call; sign in and allow access
Or set up every client on this computer with one command
curl -fsSL https://outreach2day.com/install | shirm https://outreach2day.com/install.ps1 | iexIt adds the server by URL to Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Windsurf, Gemini CLI and Codex, and prints the connector steps for Claude Desktop, after a backup of each config. Each client asks you to sign in to Outreach2day on first use. View the script

Limits that keep an autonomous sender out of spam
An agent can send faster than any rep, which is how domains burn. Warmup and the preflight are enforced by the tools; the volume limits are how the agent sizes domains and paces the sending.
- 14 daysWarmup before the first cold emailattach_campaign_mailboxes refuses mailboxes with less; warmup keeps running after launch
- 25Cold emails per mailbox a dayThe volume our plans are sized on; each mailbox sends it from day 14
- 5Mailboxes per domainsuggest_domains sizes domains this way, so one domain's reputation never carries the whole program
- GreenPreflight before launchlaunch_campaign is refused until sequence, contacts, mailboxes and warmup pass
- Orders: the agent quotes, you say yes in the chat and pay on a Stripe page you open
- Launches and exports need confirm=true after your explicit yes
- No tool deletes domains, mailboxes or campaigns, or shows passwords and SMTP/IMAP logins
- In ChatGPT the agent checks, warms and runs campaigns; orders go through the web app

Verdict, vendor by vendor
Build vs 11x Alice
You see the price before you start, pay month to month and keep the domains and mailboxes in your name.
11x fits a team that wants a managed, multichannel agent with a contact database and a sales process to match; price and term come from a demo.
Build vs Artisan Ava
A published per-mailbox price and your own model doing the writing, with every order and launch approved by you.
Artisan fits when you need its 250M+ contacts, autonomous replies and a dialer in one plan, sized with their sales team.
Build vs AiSDR
$2.50 per mailbox covers sending and warmup at any number of contacts; your list costs what your data source charges.
AiSDR fits when you want data, LinkedIn and automatic replies bundled and are fine with a plan from $250 a month.
Build vs Instantly AI agents
Mailboxes on your domains with warmup and a sequencer in one price, and the agent runs in the AI client you already use.
Instantly fits a team already on Instantly that wants its lead database and Reply Agent in credits; our mailboxes also export to Instantly.
Build vs Salesforge Agent Frank
Mailboxes, warmup and sending are in one bill, month to month, with no demo or quarterly term.
Frank fits when you want its contact search and automatic replies; its price excludes mailboxes, sold separately as Infraforge.

Or talk to the teamWhat is an AI SDR?
An AI SDR is an AI agent that does a sales development rep's outbound work: it researches prospects, writes personalized emails, sends the sequence with follow-ups and sorts the replies, so a human takes over at the meeting. Products such as 11x, Artisan, AiSDR and Salesforge's Agent Frank package it; you can also build one on Claude or ChatGPT with an MCP server for the sending.
What is the difference between an AI SDR, an AI BDR and an AI sales agent?
AI SDR and AI BDR name the same job, outbound prospecting up to a booked meeting; some teams keep BDR for outbound and SDR for inbound. AI sales agent is the wider term for any agent that takes actions in the sales process. An AI sales assistant only drafts and suggests, and a rep sends.
How much does an AI SDR cost?
Packaged AI SDRs list from a few hundred to several thousand dollars a month, often on quarterly or annual terms; the table above has each vendor's published price with the date we checked it. Building your own on Claude and Outreach2day costs the model plan ($20 a month for Claude Pro) plus $2.50 per mailbox a month from 12 mailboxes and the domains: about $53 a month for 1,000 new contacts. Lead data is extra in both cases unless the product includes it.
Are SDRs being replaced by AI?
The repetitive half of the job is moving to agents: list research, first drafts, follow-ups, sorting replies. Conversations stay human: the discovery call, objections, the demo and the deal. Teams that build an agent usually keep one person who owns the offer, the list and the replies.
Can Claude work as an AI sales agent?
For email outbound, yes. Connect the Outreach2day MCP server and Claude can suggest and quote domains and mailboxes, start warmup, write and check the sequence, import your contacts, launch after your yes and read stats and replies. It does not source leads, verify lists or send replies over MCP.
Where do the leads come from?
From your own source: a CSV export from Clay, Apollo or a list you built. import_campaign_contacts takes up to 10,000 rows per call with an email column; extra columns become variables the model uses to personalize. Outreach2day does not sell or verify contact data.
Does the agent answer replies by itself?
It reads them: list_replies returns each reply with a subject, sender, snippet and reply intent, and the model drafts answers in the chat. You send the answer from the Outreach2day inbox, where every reply from every mailbox lands.
How long until the agent sends its first cold email?
14 days after the mailboxes are created. Warmup runs for 14 days before a mailbox can join a campaign, and from day 14 each mailbox sends the full 25 cold emails a day. The agent writes the sequence and imports the list during warmup.
Which AI clients can run it?
Any client that connects to a remote MCP server: Claude (claude.ai, Desktop and Claude Code), ChatGPT developer mode, Cursor, Codex, VS Code and others. Every client signs in to Outreach2day with OAuth. ChatGPT sign-ins run checks, warmup and campaigns; orders there go through the web app.
