Overview

What Smartlead SmartSenders is

SmartSenders is the mailbox store inside Smartlead. You pick a provider, buy domains through Smartlead (registered by Namecheap's API, DNS on Cloudflare) and the mailboxes appear in your Smartlead account, warmed in Smartlead's pool. Smartlead resells partners: Zapmail for Google and Outlook, InfraInbox for Outlook, Mailreef and AeroSend for SMTP.

Smartlead's terms call these mailboxes a subcontracted third-party service: you accept the partner's end-user licence, and Smartlead does not vet or endorse the partner. The mailboxes work only in Smartlead: "Domains and mailboxes bought through SmartSenders can't be transferred and used out of Smartlead".

They also depend on the plan. A paid Smartlead plan is needed to buy them, the 14-day trial cannot, and cancelling the plan schedules every SmartSenders mailbox for deletion. The full Smartlead plan list is in our Smartlead review.

Add-ons and extra costs

One price per mailbox at any volume: Google or Outlook from Zapmail $4.50 a month with $13 domains, Outlook from InfraInbox $5 with $16 domains, pre-warmed Google or Outlook $9 with $18 domains in bundles of 3, SMTP from Mailreef $3.99 with $19 domains or from AeroSend $4.20 with $13 domains. There are no volume tiers.

Domains run a fixed year. The first payment is one month of mailboxes plus a year of domains; after 12 months the domain and its mailboxes expire with no renewal, and Auto-Replace can reorder them on a new domain. Domain fees are non-refundable.

The plan is part of the price. SmartSenders send and warm up only through a Smartlead plan: Base $39 for 6,000 sends, Pro $94 for 90,000, Unlimited Smart $174 for 150,000, slider steps up to Unlimited Prime at $379 for 500,000 and beyond. Every plan step is in Smartlead pricing.

Verdict

SmartSenders are the shortest path to mailboxes for a team that already lives in Smartlead: one order, one bill, warmup in the plan. They cost $4.50 at any volume, stay inside Smartlead, expire with their domain after a year and are never refunded.

Outreach2day is $2.50 a mailbox month to month, $1.50 from 100 and $0.50 from 1,000, with warmup for the life of the mailbox and 25 cold emails a day from day 14. Keep Smartlead and add our mailboxes by API key, or send from our own sequencer. Most people think only Google gets to the inbox and overpay for it; our mailboxes run on our own infrastructure and land in the inbox.

  1. Keep your sequencer

    Connect Instantly or Smartlead in Outreach2day with an API key and the warm mailboxes are added to your account; other tools take a CSV in their import format, or SMTP/IMAP logins. How the export works

  2. Or move the campaigns

    Our sequencer runs campaigns with steps, a send schedule, stop on reply and one inbox for replies; import the contacts as a CSV and recreate the steps. The mailbox price stays $2.50.

  3. Warmup and the overlap

    New mailboxes warm for 14 days before cold email, and warmup keeps running after that. Keep the Smartlead SmartSenders mailboxes sending during those two weeks, then shift the volume and cancel Smartlead SmartSenders for the end of its billing period.

SmartSenders cannot be moved out of Smartlead: delete them in Smartlead once the new mailboxes have warmed up; they keep sending until a day before the billing cycle ends, and nothing is refunded. Domains bought through SmartSenders expire with their mailboxes after the fixed year.

How many emails a SmartSender sends

Smartlead's mailbox page says most senders keep each mailbox at 20 to 50 emails a day with 2 to 3 mailboxes per domain, and its benchmark page puts the ceiling at 50 cold emails a day. Zapmail, which fulfils the $4.50 Google and Outlook mailboxes, advises at most 20 a day per inbox, and Mailreef SMTP mailboxes are capped at 20 cold and 20 warmup emails a day inside Smartlead.

Our cost table takes the top of Smartlead's range, 50 a day, so SmartSenders need the fewest mailboxes. At Zapmail's 20 a day the same 2,500 cold emails take 125 mailboxes: $562.50 in mailboxes alone.

Cancelling and refunds

Smartlead's refund policy lists SmartSenders among add-ons that are "strictly non-refundable". There is no cancel or pause button: you delete mailboxes, they keep working until a day before the billing cycle ends, and the remaining days are not refunded.

Because the mailboxes cannot leave Smartlead, moving to another sequencer means new mailboxes and a new warmup. Outreach2day mailboxes connect to Smartlead by API key, so the move does not tie you to one tool: the same mailboxes work in Instantly, Smartlead or our own sequencer.

How much do SmartSenders cost?

Google or Outlook from Zapmail $4.50 a mailbox a month with $13 domains, Outlook from InfraInbox $5 with $16 domains, pre-warmed $9 with $18 domains, SMTP $3.99 (Mailreef) or $4.20 (AeroSend). Domains are paid for a fixed year upfront, and a paid Smartlead plan from $39 a month is needed.

What do 2,500 cold emails a day cost with SmartSenders?

50 Google mailboxes at 50 a day, 10 domains and Smartlead Pro: $329.83 a month. 100 Outreach2day mailboxes in the same Pro plan are $265.67, or $171.67 with warmup and our sequencer.

Can I use SmartSenders outside Smartlead?

No. Smartlead's help center says domains and mailboxes bought through SmartSenders cannot be transferred or used outside Smartlead, and its terms forbid assigning them.

Are SmartSenders refundable?

No. Smartlead's refund policy lists SmartSenders as strictly non-refundable; a mailbox deleted mid-month is billed to the end of the month, and domain fees are non-refundable.

Do SmartSenders domains renew?

No. They run a fixed 1-year term; at the end of the year the domain and all its mailboxes expire.

Who provides SmartSenders mailboxes?

Partners listed on Smartlead's pricing page: Zapmail for Google and Outlook, InfraInbox for Outlook, Mailreef and AeroSend for SMTP. Smartlead's terms call them subcontracted third-party services.
