Domain age checker: registration date, expiry and registrar

Enter up to 20 domains to see when each was registered, how old it is, when it expires, its registrar and its nameservers.

One per line, or separated by commas. Up to 20 at a time; websites and email addresses are reduced to their domain.

About this tool

About the domain age checker

The dates come live from the domain's registry over RDAP, the protocol that replaced WHOIS for .com, .net, .org and most other endings, so they are the registry's own record.

For cold email, after the first month domain age barely matters: on cold email to Google recipients, domains older than a month got 1.07% replies and newer ones 1.01%, a difference that is not statistically significant (Outreach2day data, 2026: 3.7 million sends in 7 workspaces). The first weeks of a new domain are a separate risk that our data did not measure, which is why warmup runs 14 days before the first cold email and keeps running after it.

How it works

How to read the result

  • Age: days since the registration event in the registry's record; a domain that was dropped and registered again starts from zero, even if the website is older
  • Registered and expires: the registration and expiration events; the expiry moves forward each time the domain is renewed
  • Registrar: the company the domain is registered through; the registry lists it, the owner's details are usually redacted
  • Nameservers and last changed: where the domain's DNS is hosted and the last time the registry record changed (a transfer, a nameserver change, a renewal)
  • Available: the registry has no record, so anyone can register the name

Background

Does domain age matter for cold email?

Google's sender guidelines and Yahoo's sender requirements set no minimum domain age. What Google asks for is gradual volume: "Start with a low sending volume to engaged users, and slowly increase the volume over time."

Our own data matches. After the first month, domain age barely matters: domains older than a month and newer ones got the same reply rate from Google recipients within noise (1.07% and 1.01%). In our warmup data, the health of the sending server and its IPs decided the warmup result; the details are in how long to warm up a new mailbox.

The first weeks are different and our data did not measure them, so we treat them as a separate risk: warm up a new domain's mailboxes for 14 days before the first cold email and keep warmup running while you send (the warmup schedule).

Background

Should you buy an aged domain?

An aged domain saves at most the first weeks, and it comes with a history you did not create: spam from a previous owner, blocklist entries, or a Safe Browsing flag. If you buy one, check it with the domain health check and the email blacklist check first, and warm it up like a new one. Pre-warmed inboxes have the same trade-off; pre-warmed inboxes compares the options.

A fresh .com costs $13 a year at Outreach2day and the first weeks are covered by warmup, so for most senders new domains are the simpler choice. Domains for cold email covers naming, endings and how many to buy.

Background

RDAP, WHOIS and missing dates

RDAP returns the registry's record as structured data with registration, expiration and last-changed events. The checker reads it in your browser from the server listed for the ending in IANA's RDAP bootstrap file, so nothing passes through our servers.

A few country endings (.io, .co, .me, .us and .de among them) publish no RDAP server in IANA's file. For those the checker says the age is unknown here; the registrar's dashboard or the registry's own WHOIS page shows it.

Questions

How do I check how old a domain is?

Enter it above. The checker asks the domain's registry over RDAP for the registration date and shows the age in years, months or days, with the expiry date and registrar. You can check up to 20 domains at once.

Is domain age the same as website age?

No. Domain age counts from the current registration. A website can be newer (a parked domain) or older (moved from another domain). If a domain expired and was registered again, its age starts over.

Does domain age affect email deliverability?

Barely, after the first month: in our data domains older than a month and newer ones got the same reply rates from Google recipients within noise. A brand-new domain still needs 14 days of warmup before full cold volume.

How long should a new domain wait before sending cold email?

Warm up its mailboxes for 14 days before the first cold email; from day 14 each mailbox can send the full 25 cold emails a day. Keep warmup running while you send.

Why does the checker show no date for my domain?

The domain's ending publishes no RDAP server in IANA's bootstrap file (.io, .co, .me, .us and .de, for example), or the registry did not answer. Your registrar's dashboard always shows the registration date.

Does this tool store the domains I check?

No. The lookups go from your browser to each registry's RDAP server. We do not receive the domains or the results.
