Pre-Warmed Inboxes: What You Get and When They Pay Off
What pre-warmed inboxes are, what Instantly, Smartlead and Zapmail sell under that name, the cost against warming your own, and what to check before buying.

On this page
Pre-warmed inboxes are mailboxes a vendor has already run through warm-up before you get them, so you can start cold email without the usual two to three weeks of waiting. Instantly sells them at $10 per account a month, Smartlead's SmartSenders at $9, and Zapmail from $39 for 3. They cost roughly twice a fresh mailbox every month you keep them, only Zapmail states how long its accounts were warmed (12+ weeks), and the accounts bought inside a sequencer can't be used anywhere else.
We make Outreach2day, cold email infrastructure. We don't sell pre-warmed mailboxes. We sell fresh SMTP/IMAP mailboxes at $2.50 a month with warm-up included, and you warm them for 14 days before the first cold email.
What Sellers Mean by Pre-Warmed
Each vendor below describes the product on its own pages, checked September 2026.
Vendor | Price | What the page says | Warm-up length or history shown |
|---|---|---|---|
Instantly pre-warmed accounts | $10 per Google account a month, $15 per domain a year; batches of 5 | Start sending "in minutes"; ramp from 5 a day per account, capped at 20 to 25 a day | Not stated |
Smartlead SmartSenders pre-warmed (Zapmail) | $9 per mailbox a month, $18 per domain a year | "fully pre-warmed, reputation-ready, deliverability-tested"; skips the "2–3 week warmup process" | Not stated |
Zapmail pre-warmed | $39 for 3 (renews at $24), $149 for 12 (renews at $84), $339 for 30 (renews at $180) | "Skip the Warmup. Start Sending from Day One"; Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 accounts | "12+ weeks of warm-up"; no statistics shown |
Three points apply across the three:
The accounts are Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 mailboxes on domains the vendor registered and warmed.
Warm-up statistics before purchase are not published on the pages we read, and only Zapmail states a warm-up length. Instantly's article covers price, batches, renewals, ownership and sending limits, and says nothing about how long the accounts were warmed.
"Pre-warmed domains" usually means the domains that come with the accounts. Instantly's help article covers pre-warmed domains and accounts together: the domains are registered for 1 year at $15 each and sold with the accounts.
Ownership and portability differ by vendor. Instantly says it retains "domain ownership and administrator access" and that the accounts are "exclusively configured for use within the Instantly platform". Smartlead says SmartSenders domains and mailboxes "can't be transferred and used outside of Smartlead". Cancelling Instantly pre-warmed accounts "takes effect immediately", and "You will lose access to the Gmail mailbox shortly after cancellation."
What Warm-Up History Does and Doesn't Carry Over
Warm-up builds a sending history for a mailbox and its domain. Mailbox providers judge that history by the sending domain and by the servers and IPs the mail leaves from. Google's sender guidelines say to monitor "the sending domain's reputation" and that "The activity of any senders using a shared IP address affects the reputation of all senders for that shared IP address."
From that, a few things follow:
What carries over: the domain's history and the mailbox's own history, as long as the mail keeps leaving through the same provider. A pre-warmed Google account connected to a sequencer still sends through Google's servers, so its history stays attached.
What doesn't carry over: anything tied to infrastructure you leave behind. If a domain is moved to a different mailbox provider or different sending servers, the new servers start without that domain's past mail on them.
What warm-up can't prove: how cold email will land. Warm-up partners open and reply to the mailbox; your prospects don't know it. A warm mailbox that jumps from warm-up traffic to full cold volume on day one is still a sudden change. Google's guidance for any sender without a history of large volumes: "Avoid introducing sudden volume spikes." Instantly itself tells buyers of pre-warmed accounts to start at 5 a day per account.
So a pre-warmed inbox saves the calendar time of warm-up, not the ramp. You still start low and raise volume, and warm-up still has to keep running while you send. See keep warm-up running while sending.
What It Costs Against Warming Your Own
The premium for pre-warmed is paid every month, not once.
Setup | Fresh mailbox | Pre-warmed mailbox | Extra per mailbox a month |
|---|---|---|---|
Instantly Google account | $5 | $10 | $5 |
Smartlead SmartSenders | $4.50 | $9 | $4.50 |
Zapmail, 30 mailboxes | $99 ($3.30 each) | $180 renewal ($6 each) | $2.70 |
At 40 mailboxes on Instantly, pre-warmed accounts cost 40 × $5 = $200 a month more than fresh ones, or $2,400 over a year. What you buy with that is about three weeks.
Warming your own with Outreach2day: 40 mailboxes cost 40 × $2.50 = $100 a month, with warm-up and the sending engine included. Each mailbox sends 25+ warm-up emails a day to Google recipients, 25 to Outlook and 25 to other providers. The schedule:
Day 0: mailboxes ready within 24 hours of the order, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set.
Days 1 to 14: warm-up only, no cold email.
Day 14: cold email at a low volume.
Around day 21: full volume, up to 25 cold emails per mailbox a day.
The cost of warming your own is the time, plus most of the first month's $100 at 40 mailboxes paid before the mailboxes reach full cold volume. For the day-by-day plan, see the email warm-up schedule and how long to warm up.
When Buying Pre-Warmed Makes Sense
You need to send this week and three weeks of waiting costs more than the premium: a launch date, a trial with a client, an event.
You are replacing burned mailboxes mid-campaign and have no warm spares. Next time, warm spares three weeks ahead; see burned domain: what to do.
You already use that sequencer and plan to stay, so the lock-in costs you nothing.
It makes less sense when you can plan three weeks ahead, when you run more than one sequencer, when you want the domains to be yours, or at high volume, where the monthly premium adds up.
Checks Before You Buy
Ask how long the accounts were warmed and in which warm-up pool. If the seller can't say, you are paying for a label.
Ask for warm-up statistics: inbox and spam rates by day, per account. You won't see the history on the pages above.
Look up the domain's creation date with any WHOIS or RDAP lookup. A domain registered last week had little time to build history.
Check SPF, DKIM and DMARC on each domain with the SPF, DKIM and DMARC checker.
Read who owns the domain and whether the accounts work outside the tool. At Instantly and Smartlead they don't.
Check the renewal price. Zapmail's bundles renew at a different price from the first month; Instantly's renew monthly on the 15th.
Run a placement test before full volume, to Google and Outlook recipients, with a neutral email. See are inbox placement tests reliable.
Ramp anyway. Start at a few emails a day per account and raise volume in steps.
FAQ
Are pre-warmed inboxes worth it?
When you must send within days, yes, because they remove about three weeks of waiting. If you can plan three weeks ahead, fresh mailboxes with warm-up cost about half as much a month, and the domains can be yours.
Can I see the warm-up history of a pre-warmed inbox?
Not from the pages of Instantly, Smartlead or Zapmail that we read; none of them publishes warm-up statistics, and only Zapmail states a warm-up length (12+ weeks). Ask the seller before you pay.
Do pre-warmed inboxes still need warm-up?
Yes. Keep warm-up running while you send, and ramp cold volume up from a few emails a day. Instantly tells buyers to start at 5 a day per account and cap at 20 to 25.
Does Outreach2day sell pre-warmed mailboxes?
No. We sell fresh SMTP/IMAP mailboxes at $2.50 a month with warm-up included: 14 days of warm-up only, low cold volume from day 14, full volume from around day 21.
Can I use Instantly pre-warmed accounts in Smartlead or another tool?
No. Instantly says its accounts are configured for use only within Instantly and that it keeps the domains. The same applies to SmartSenders mailboxes in Smartlead. For mailboxes that connect to either, see mailboxes for Instantly and Smartlead.
