Clay has four plans: Free ($0, 500 actions and 100 data credits a month), Launch (from $185 a month on monthly billing, 15,000 actions and 2,500 data credits), Growth (from $495, 40,000 actions and 6,000 data credits) and Enterprise (custom, annual). Billed yearly, Launch starts at $167 a month and Growth at $446. Seats are unlimited on every plan. A plan's price is two tiers added together: actions pay for the work Clay does, and data credits pay for the data it buys from 150+ providers. In Clay's own example a work email costs 0.5 data credit when one is found, so 5,000 contacts fit into Launch at $185. Sending each of them 3 emails within a month takes 28 mailboxes on 6 domains: $70 a month with Outreach2day plus $78 a year for domains.

Prices below are from clay.com/pricing and Clay's docs, checked October 14, 2026. Our own figures come from the capacity model behind the cold email capacity calculator.

What One Contact Costs in Clay

For an email-only list: 0.5 data credit for the email plus 3 actions (find, validate, export). On Launch's base tiers that is 0.5 × $0.05 + 3 × $0.004 = $0.037 a contact.

What It Costs to Send to 5,000 or 20,000 Clay Contacts

A Clay table is half the job. To email it you need valid addresses, mailboxes on domains that are not your main one, two weeks of warmup, and enough mailboxes that none of them sends more than about 25 cold emails a day. Here is the full bill for sending every contact 3 emails within one month (22 sending days), at list prices with monthly billing.

How the lines are worked out:

  1. Clay. 5,000 emails at 0.5 data credit is 2,500 credits; finding, validating and exporting 5,000 rows is 15,000 actions. Both fit Launch's base tiers. 20,000 rows need 10,000 data credits and 60,000 actions.

  2. Verification. Keep only rows whose email validation is Valid; Clay marks catch-all, unknown and role-based addresses as less reliable. Outreach2day does not sell or verify data.

  3. Mailboxes. Each costs $2.50 a month with warmup and the sequencer included. 682 emails a day at 25 per mailbox is 28 mailboxes; 5 mailboxes per domain is 6 domains. The 20,000 list needs 110 mailboxes on 22 domains.

  4. Time. Warmup runs 14 days before the first cold email, then the list goes out over 22 sending days.

The calculator near the top of this post does the same sizing for any daily volume and carries the result into sign-up: "Create N mailboxes" opens the order with that number of mailboxes and domains, and "Email me this plan" sends it to your inbox. A list of more than about 180,000 contacts a month needs 1,000 mailboxes or more; from 1,000 mailboxes we quote a volume price on a call (book it below).

Sending From Clay

Clay sends in two ways. The Clay Sequencer charges 1 action per lead added to a campaign and connects Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 or any SMTP/IMAP mailbox; on Growth you can buy domains and mailboxes in Clay with credits, and Clay says they take about three weeks to warm. Its docs suggest about 20 emails per mailbox a day and 3 mailboxes per domain, 5 at most. The other way is a sequencer integration (Instantly, Smartlead and others), at 1 action per record exported.

Outreach2day mailboxes work with both: connect them to the Clay Sequencer over SMTP/IMAP, or export them to Instantly or Smartlead and keep Clay's integration.

Clay vs Apollo, Lusha and ZoomInfo

Apollo charges 1 credit per verified email from its own database, 2 to 2.6 cents on a paid seat. Lusha charges 1 credit per email from $49.90 a month. ZoomInfo does not publish prices. Clay vs Apollo prices 5,000 and 20,000 contacts in both, side by side.

Import a Clay Table Into Outreach2day

Make an export view with only the columns your emails use, filter it to Valid emails and download the CSV. Import it into an Outreach2day campaign: the email column is required, and every other column becomes a variable. The Clay import steps show the column mapping. Before the first send, read why bounce rates climb and what to do about it.
